Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Windows is a parallel plane plate, usually used as a protective window for electronic sensors or detectors of the external environment. An IR-UV Window is a window designed for use in the infrared or ultraviolet spectrum. Windows are designed to prevent saturation or photodamage of electronic sensors, detectors, or other sensitive optical components. Barium fluoride is a material used in the infrared band. It has high transmittance in the 2-8μm range. The properties of barium fluoride are similar to calcium fluoride, but it has the advantage of being more resistant to high-energy radiation. However, it is less resistant to water.
